CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia Baseball’s Tyler Cannon (Sr., Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) and Danny Hultzen (So., Bethesda, Md.) each have been listed on updated watch lists for awards presented by the College Baseball Foundation. Cannon is a quarterfinalist for the Wallace Award, which is presented to the nation’s top shortstop, while Hultzen is a quarterfinalist for the Pitcher of the Year Award.

Each award watch list has been whittled down to 25 quarterfinalists. The awards will be presented as part of the College Baseball Awards Show on July 2 in Lubbock, Texas.

Cannon is batting .358 this season and has committed just six errors at shortstop (.961 fielding percentage). He has hit 16 doubles, three triples and a career-high three home runs and is nearing a career high with his 34 runs batted in.

Hultzen is 7-1 this season with an ACC-low 2.00 earned run average. In 76.2 innings, he has allowed just 19 runs (17 earned), 49 hits and 11 walks while striking out 94. Opposing batters are hitting just .179 against him.
