Charlottesville, VA – Virginia golfers Will Collins and Ben Kohles have been named to the Golf Coaches Association of America’s All-East Region team. Collins and Kohles helped Virginia to an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, the best showing in the program’s history.
Kohles led UVa with a 71.32 stroke average this year. He finished first in three tournaments and was UVa’s top scorer in six events. Kohles shot par or better in 21 of his 38 rounds this year. He tied the Virginia single-round scoring record when he posted a 7-under 63 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in March.
Collins was second on the team with a 72.26 stroke average. He led the Cavaliers at the NCAAs with a 25th-place finish. It marked the third consecutive year he has been UVa’s top finisher at the national championships. He was the runner-up at the 2010 ACC Championships.
Both players were previously named to the All-ACC squad. Kohles was named the league’s co-Player of the Year.
