CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia will send nine Cavaliers to the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week at the University of Oregon’s historic Hayward Field to compete for a national championship. Events will begin on Wednesday and conclude Saturday. CBS College Sports will air events live on Friday from 8-10 p.m. ET and Saturday from 1-3 p.m. ET. All other competition will be streamed live at NCAA.com.

Senior All-American Steve Delice, junior All-American Ryan Collins, junior Steve Finley, sophomore All-American Lance Roller and freshman All-American Robby Andrews will all compete on the track, while senior All-American Meghan Briggs, juniors Andy Fahringer and Marcus Robinson and sophomore Tara Karin will all compete in field events.

This will mark the third appearance at NCAAs for Briggs and Delice, while it will be the second-straight for Finley and Roller and the first outdoors for everyone else.

Briggs, making her third-straight appearance, finished ninth last year to earn her first-ever All-America citation. She is a three-time ACC Champion and won the 2009 Penn Relays title. Karin – making her first NCAA appearance – will join Briggs in the event, while Fahringer will compete in his first national championship on the men’s side.

Delice, a 2007 All-American in the 400m hurdles at Coppin State, is competing as a graduate student for the Cavaliers in his only season of eligibility. Delice finished runner-up at ACCs in the long hurdles and is making his first trip to NCAAs since 2008 and third overall.

Finley has advanced to NCAAs for the second-straight season and will be looking to improve upon a 21st place finish in the steeplechase last year.

Roller is also making his second-straight appearance at NCAAs in the 800m and will be joined by the indoor NCAA Champion – Andrews – this year. Roller finished 14th last season.

Collins will round out the Cavaliers’ competitors this year – racing the 10k. This will mark Collins’ first outdoor national championship, but he raced the 5k indoors this year – finishing 11th to earn his first All-America honor.
