EUGENE, Ore. – Senior All-American Meghan Briggs and sophomore Tara Karin wrapped up competition for the Cavaliers on the final day of the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Oregon’s Hayward Field on Saturday.

Briggs, making her third-straight appearance at NCAAs, wrapped up her collegiate career with a 14th-place finish, throwing 155 7”. She won her third-straight ACC title in the javelin this year and finished runner-up at the prestigious Penn Relays.

Karin also competed in the today’s javelin competition – marking her first-ever NCAA Championship – taking 18th by throwing 151’ 2”.

As a team, the men’s side collected 11 points on two top-six finishers to earn a program-best 23rd-place finish. The program’s previous best was a tie for 24th in 1988.

Texas A&M won a close men’s battle with 55 points, while Florida finished second with 54 points. Oregon took third with 45 points.

The same three teams claimed the top-three spots on the women’s side. Texas A&M swept the titles with 72 points, while Oregon finished second with 57 points and Florida was third with 40 points.

Virginia will return to action June 23-27, as select Cavaliers will compete in the USA Junior and Senior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
