CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Seven Cavaliers will head to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the 2010 USA Junior and Senior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium this Wednesday through Sunday. ESPN will air the competition from 8-10 p.m. ET on Friday and 1-2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday. NBC will have coverage of the championship on Saturday and Sunday from 3-4 p.m. ET. FloTrack will also streak the championships live, while live results will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

Competing in the senior national championships will be Meghan Briggs (javelin), Stephanie Garcia (steeplechase) and Lance Roller (800m), while Robby Andrews (800m), Pearl Bickersteth (high jump), Robert Guider (hammer) and Dallas Rose (triple jump) will be featured in the junior (19-and-under) championships. Each of the junior competitors will be vying for a spot to represent Team USA at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada this August. The team will be comprised of the top-two finishers from this week’s junior national championship.

Andrews, the NCAA runner-up in the 800m this outdoor season, will kick things off for the Cavaliers on Thursday, competing in the first round of the junior men’s 800m at 2:10 p.m. ET. The finals are scheduled for Friday at 2:40 p.m.

Garcia, who redshirted this outdoor season, will also compete on Thursday, racing the 3,000m steeplechase at 5:15 p.m. ET.

In the junior competition on Friday, Guider will get things going with the men’s hammer throw at 11:15 a.m. Rose will then compete in the triple jump at 2:10 p.m., while Bickersteth will be in the high jump at 7 p.m.

Briggs, a three-time ACC Champion, will wrap up an impressive career in the senior competition of the javelin on Friday, throwing at 7 p.m. ET. Roller will wrap up the day’s competition with the senior men’s 800m semifinals at 8:30 p.m.

Sunday will feature the senior women’s steeplechase at 2:15 p.m. and the senior men’s 800m finals at 3 p.m.
