CHARLOTTESVILLE–Mike Stroud, the assistant director for athletics facilities and operations in the Virginia athletics department the last four years, has been promoted to director of facilities and operations. Jason Bauman, UVa’s associate director of athletics for facilities and operations, announced Stroud’s promotion on Wednesday (July 7).

Stroud’s responsibilities will include managing the operation and maintenance of the athletics facilities, serving as contract administrator for various service contracts, and planning and coordinating facility maintenance projects. He will continue to serve as the event manager for assigned events and sports programs, coordinate support activities for those events, and assist with the bid process and coordinate the hosting of Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA championships for his assigned sports. In addition to the Scott Stadium operations budget, Stroud also will manage assigned components of the budgets for other athletics facilities. He will supervise the athletics housekeeping and shop maintenance staffs.

“Mike has consistently demonstrated his commitment to our department’s goals and objectives,” Bauman said. “Since joining the facilities and operations unit, he has performed at a high level in managing the many aspects of Scott Stadium. It makes sense to utilize Mike’s knowledge, skills and the relationships he has established to manage the day-to-day operations of all the athletics facilities.”

Stroud also assists the executive associate athletics director with assigned capital projects. Most recently he worked on the baseball stadium enhancement project, which renovated the existing support facility and added a hall of fame, meeting room and weight room.

Prior to becoming UVa’s assistant director for athletics facilities and operations, Stroud was the head equipment manager for football at Virginia for two years and an assistant football equipment manager for one year.

He has served on the Athletics Diversity Committee and the EHS-Environmental Management and Sustainability Committee.

A native of Bricktown, N.J., Stroud came to Virginia from the University of Central Florida where he was an assistant equipment manager for one year.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from East Carolina University in May of 2002 and his master’s degree in sports management from West Virginia University in December of 2009.
