Oakmont, PA – Virginia sophomore Brittany Altomare finished her play at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open Championship Saturday and failed to make the cut for the final two rounds. Altomare shot 84 during Thursday’s opening round and carded a 77 during the second round that was not finished until Saturday morning due to weather. Altomare tied for 131st overall.

It was her second consecutive appearance at the U.S. Women’s Open. She was one of 29 amateur players to qualify for this year’s tournament. This year’s event is being held at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.

Friday UVa rising sophomore Lauren Greenlief was the runner up for the second consecutive year at the Virginia State Golf Association Women’s Amateur Championship held at Glenmore Country Club. Greenlief lost to Longwood-bound Amanda Steinhagen 2 and 1 in the tournament’s match play final.

Redshirt freshman Elizabeth Brightwell reached the quarterfinals of the tournament.
