Miramar, Fla. – Steve Finley and Stephanie Garcia each earned medals while competing for Team USA at the 2010 North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-23 Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Miramar, Fla.

Finley, an All-American in the steeplechase this season, raced Saturday evening and finished third in the event. Finley was the second American finisher, as Donald Cabral won the title in 8:52.67. Alvaro Abreu of the Dominican Republic finished runner-up with a time of 9:27.18, while Finley claimed his bronze medal in 9:57.49.

Garcia also competed in 3,000m steeplechase, racing the women’s section on Sunday and finished runner-up to fellow American Rebeka Stowe. Stowe won gold in 10:08.58, while Garcia – who redshirted this season – earned the silver medal with at time of 10:20.50.

The NACAC Athletic Association’s U23 Championships are held every two years in one of the 32 member nations of the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association, one of six regional athletics associations affiliated with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Seventy-eight athletes joined to represent Team USA and they finished competition with a record 74 medals this year.
