Charlottesville, VA – Virginia women’s golfers Brittany Altomare and Elizabeth Brightwell will compete Tuesday in the inaugural Women’s Collegiate Team Championship. The event is presented by the National Golf Coaches Association.

A total of 55 two-person teams from college programs make up the field. Each team will pair players from the same university in a 54‐hole stroke play event.

The format of the Championship is Day 1 (Aug. 3): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 4): Best Ball; and Day 3 (Aug. 5): Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including 42 Division I, four Division II, six Division III and one NAIA program.

The tournament is being held at Achasta, by Reynolds. The par-72 course is located in Dahlonega, Georgia one hour north of Atlanta.

The event is not considered an in-season tournament that counts toward team results or individual statistics for the competitors.
