Charlotte, NC – Five members of the Virginia women’s golf team opened play at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Monday at the Charlotte Country Club. Sophomore Brittany Altomare and junior Eleana Collins led that group by shooting 2-over 74 in the hot and humid conditions to tie for 39th place.

Senior Calle Nielson is one shot behind them in 75th place. Sophomore Lauren Greenlief carded a 79 and is in 120th place while sophomore Nicole Agnello shot 81 and is in 138th place.

Rachel Rohanna who competes for Ohio State leads the field after shooting a course record 7-under 65. Following Tuesday’s second round of stroke play, the field will be cut for match play that starts Wednesday.
