CHARLOTTESVILLE—Robbie Greenlee, the equal opportunity officer for employment equity at the University of Virginia for the last 11 years, has been named assistant athletics director for human resources. Virginia Executive Associate Director of Athletics Jon Oliver announced Greenlee’s appointment on Thursday, Aug. 19.

As the equal opportunity officer for employment equity at UVa, Greenlee monitored faculty recruitment to ensure the integrity of the hiring process and compliance with federal and state equal opportunity/affirmative action laws and regulations. She also conducted group and individual search training, and annually solicited entries and compiled the University’s equal opportunity report.

As assistant athletics director for human resources, Greenlee will be the athletics department’s liaison to the University’s department of human resources. She is responsible for providing professional level support in the athletics department for personnel, new staff orientation and employee relations. She is also responsible for the coordination, administration and evaluation process of personnel in the athletics department.

“I’m excited that Robbie has agreed to join our staff,” Oliver said. “The athletics department human resources office has always provided great service and I’m confident this will continue under Robbie’s leadership.”

Prior to assuming her position as the University’s equal opportunity officer, Greenlee was human resource manager in the department of human resources at UVa (April of 1998 to July of 1999) and human resource manager at American Press, LLC, in Gordonsville, Va. (May of 1997 to March of 1998). She was human resource manager at the Virginia Department of Forestry in Charlottesville for eight years and also served as compensation and classification supervisor with the Virginia Community College System in Richmond, Va., and as compensation and classification analyst with UVa’s department of personnel administration.

“I am deeply honored to be selected the assistant director of athletics for human resources and I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the University community,” Greenlee said. “I look forward to drawing upon my experience as the director of human resources for the Virginia Department of Forestry and more recently as a University administrative faculty member to continue the outstanding work of my predecessor, Brett Schnell, and his staff. My goal is to build even greater capacity to meet the human resource needs of the athletics department.”

Greenlee earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Wesleyan College and a master’s degree in counseling and psychological services from the University of Virginia and Liberty University.

Greenlee assumes her responsibilities in the athletics department on Sept. 13. She replaces Brett Schnell, who resigned to accept a position in the University’s human resources department.
