CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Brian Carroll, a UVa All-American in 2010, scored three goals to lead the Chesapeake Bayhawks to its third Major League Lacrosse title, defeating the Long Island Lizards, 13-9, in the MLL championship game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.

Carroll (Towson, Md.) paced the attack, while three other former UVa All-Americans added points in the winning cause. Midfielder Kyle Dixon scored two goals and an assist, while attackman Ben Rubeor had three assists for fourth-seeded Chesapeake, which went on a 5-0 second-half run to break open a back-and-forth game. Attackman Danny Glading added two goals for the Bayhawks, who captured the franchise’s first MLL title since 2005.

Former UVa letterwinners once again scattered various MLL rosters in 2010 and were headlined by league MVP Matt Poskay, the third former Cavalier to earn such MLL accolades. Another alum, goalie Kip Turner, was named the league’s Goalie of the Year after a stellar campaign teaming up with Poskay for the Boston Cannons. Poskay and Turner were teammates at Virginia for three seasons from 2004-06.
