GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Emily Rottman has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.

Rottman was a key factor to the Cavaliers’ success in their opening weekend, helping Virginia to a 3-0 record on the young season. The outside hitter collected a match-high 28 digs in her collegiate debut, a 3-1 victory over Valparaiso, and also landed six kills and one service ace in the match.

On Saturday, Rottman earned another 18 digs to go with eight kills in a 3-1 victory over Delaware, before registering her first career double-double in a five-set match win over Temple. The Santa Barbara, Calif., native knocked down a personal-best 12 kills and picked up 11 digs in the contest and finished the tournament second on the team with 26 kills and 55 digs.

This marks the first collegiate honor for Rottman.
