CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The ACC announced today sophomore offensive tackle Oday Aboushi has been named Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week following Virginia’s season-opening triumph against Richmond Saturday. He shared the honor with Georgia Tech’s Sean Bedford.

Aboushi (Staten Island, N.Y.) made his first career start, leading the offensive line with seven pancake blocks. He helped Virginia rush for 205 yards after the Cavaliers only topped the 200-yard rushing total once in 2009. Virginia averaged 5.9 yards per rush in UVa’s 34-13 victory over Richmond. Aboushi was part of an offensive line that allowed just one sack Saturday after Virginia surrendered 41 in 2009. Aboushi becomes the first Cavalier to earn ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors since Will Barker picked up the accolade on Oct. 27, 2008.

Virginia returns to action on Saturday when it makes the program’s first trip to the state of California to contest No. 16 USC at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PST.
