CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior field hockey player Paige Selenski was tabbed the national player of the week by womensfieldhockey.com and the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week, the organizations announced Tuesday.

Selenski, a Shavertown, Pa., native, scored six goals in two wins this week as the third-ranked Cavaliers improved to 4-0 on the young season.

Selenski scored four times in UVa’s 5-2 victory over No. 16 Old Dominion Sunday in Virginia’s home opener. She scored twice in the first half before the Monarchs came back to tie the contest at two; her first second half goal sparked the UVa offense, which scored three unanswered to end the game.

The four goals by Selenski are the most since Mia Link scored four times against Bucknell in 2004. It was Selenski’s third career hat trick; she previously scored three goals in a single game twice last season.

Selenski followed up with both goals Monday in a 2-0 victory over Northwestern. She has notched nine scores in four games this season.

Virginia heads to Norfolk, Va., for two non-conference contests at Old Dominion this weekend. The Cavaliers will face No. 12 Ohio State (2-1) at 11 a.m. Saturday and No. 9 Syracuse (3-1) at 12 p.m. Sunday.
