WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Virginia women’s tennis team began its 2010 fall season by winning a pair of titles at the William & Mary Invitational. Maria Fuccillo (Rockville, Md.) won the Flight D singles title, while the team of Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) won the Flight A doubles title.

In singles, Fuccillo won four matches on the weekend to win the Flight D title, including a win over teammate Marjorie Baker (Washington, D.C.) in the final. Tomljanovic reached the final in Flight B, while Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Fraser were fourth and fifth respectively in Flight A.

In doubles, the top flight was a matchup of two Cavalier teams in the final, with second-seeded Fraser/Tomljanovic upsetting top-seeded Hardenbergh/Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) in the final, 8-5.

The Cavaliers return to host their only home tournament of the fall next weekend. The UVa Fall Invitational runs Sept. 17-19 at the Snyder Tennis Center.
