CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia head football coach Mike London announced today that redshirt freshman tailback Dominique Wallace (Fredericksburg, Va.) has left the football team for personal reasons. Wallace remains enrolled at the University.

Wallace appeared in both of the Cavaliers’ games this season, playing on special teams. Last year he appeared in three games before being sidelined with a foot injury he suffered at Southern Mississippi (Sept. 19). During the 2009 season he rushed for 49 yards on 14 carries.

“I feel this is what is best for me in regards to my academic interests,” Wallace said. “I do not plan on transferring to continue playing football at another school. My goal is to finish my undergraduate degree at UVa. I appreciate everything the coaching staff has done for me during my football career at Virginia.”
