TULSA, Okla. — Two members of the Virginia men’s tennis team advanced out of the pre-qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships on the second day of action at the Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa. Philippe Oudshoorn (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands) and Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.) both won a pair of matches Sunday to advance.

Shane, a 17-32 seed, defeated Steven Henderson of UC Irvine 7-6(4), 6-0 in his first match of the day. He then topped the pre-qualifying top seed, Emanuel Brighiu of TCU in the final round, 7-6(4), 6-3, to advance.

Oudshoorn rallied from losing his first set of the day to defeat Juan Diego Cuadrado of Bradley, 6-7(8), 7-5, 6-2. In his second match, he won a pair of tiebreakers for a 7-6(8), 7-6(3) win over Alex Brigham of UCLA to advance.

Shane and Oudshoorn advance to the qualifying draw, which begins Monday. Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Steven Eelkman Rooda (Amersfoort, The Netherlands) are already in the qualifying draw.

Main draw play begins Thursday. Five Cavaliers are in the main draw: Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.), Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India), Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.), Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) and Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.).
