LOS ANGELES — The Virginia women’s tennis team went undefeated on the first day of qualifying of the ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Country Club. Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) advanced in singles, as did the doubles team of Fraser and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.).

Fraser won her opening round singles match over Lauren Megale of Boise State, 6-4, 6-1. Later in the day, she upset 26th-ranked McCall Jones of UCLA in the second round, 6-4, 6-3. She will play in the final round of qualifying on Wednesday.

Hardenbergh, ranked No. 45 nationally, topped No. 79 Kayla Duncan of Wake Forest 6-4, 6-1 in the first round. She trailed No. 28 Danielle Lao of USC in the second round, 6-4, 1-1 when rain halted play. The match will resume on Wednesday.

The doubles team of Fraser and Tomljanovic, ranked No. 28, topped the Wake Forest duo of Duncan and Martina Pavelec, 8-4, in the first round. They play the Illinois team of Abajain and Smutko in the second round.

The Cavalier team of Hardenbergh and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) is already in the main draw of doubles.
