Charlottesville, VA – The ninth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team hopes to continue its winning ways this week when the Cavaliers travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the Tar Heel Invitational. This year’s tournament runs Friday through Sunday at the par 72, 6,285-yard UNC Finley Golf Course.

The field for the event includes Alabama, Auburn, Denver, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Louisville, Michigan State, NC State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Tulane, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. The Cavaliers are paired with Alabama and Denver during the first round. Those three teams will tee off starting at 9:45 a.m. Friday from the first tee.

Virginia’s lineup includes freshman Portland Rosen, sophomores Lauren Greenlief, Nicole Agnello and Brittany Altomare and senior Calle Nielson. This will be Rosen’s first tournament of her collegiate career.

Last year Virginia finished eighth in the field, led by 31st place finishes of Altomare and Agnello. The Cavaliers are coming off a first-place showing at the Golfweek Conference Challenge that saw Altomare take medalist honors. She is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation in the Golfweek individual rankings.
