CHARLOTTESVILLE – Victoria Burke, a member of the 2010 NCAA Champion Virginia rowing team, will represent the United States in the lightweight women’s quadruple sculls (LW4x) at the World Rowing Championships scheduled for Oct. 31 to Nov. 7 in Lake Karapiro, New Zealand.

Burke was a senior on last year’s squad that won both the ACC and NCAA Championships. She was a member of the Second Varsity Eight that finished in fourth place at the NCAA Championships and won the South/Central Regional and ACC Championships.

The Second Varsity Eight also won the prestigious Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy at the San Diego Crew Classic in 2010.

Burke is one of 80 Americans selected to the roster, which includes 70 past national team members and 20 Olympians. Burke is a native of Redding, Conn.

Burke is joined in the U.S. women’s lightweight quad by Abby Broughton (Tetonia, Idaho), Ursula Grobler (Pretoria, South Africa) and Kristin Hedstrom (Concord, Mass.).
