Jonesboro, Tenn. – The 25th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team is in fifth place after the opening round of play at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges. The Cavaliers shot 9-over 297. Kent State leads the 14-team field at 3-over 291.

Virginia was led by Amory Davis and Ben Rusch who both shot even par 72 and are tied for seventh place. Will Collins carded a 75 and is 27th overall. Ben Kohles posted a 78 and is in 47th place while Bruce Woodall shot 80 and is in 61st position.

Kent State’s John Hahn posted the day’s best round, a 4-under 68, to lead the field after the opening round.

The second round of the tournament is slated to take place Saturday and the final round will be played Sunday. Live scoring of the tournament is online at Golfstat.com.
