CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams will host the second-annual Panorama Farms Invitational on Friday at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The women will toe the line at 4 p.m., followed by the men at 4:45 p.m.

Virginia’s women’s team comes into the weekend with a national ranking of No. 20. Led by Stephanie Garcia, who took home the individual title at the season-opening Lou Onesty Invitational, the women earned a perfect score at the meet – setting a meet record. The Cavaliers then finished second at the Brooks-Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh.

The Cavalier men are ranked No. 17 nationally and are coming off of a victory at the Brooks-Paul Short Invitational. Virginia finished second at the season-opening Lou Onesty Invitational.

At last year’s inaugural Panorama Farms Invitational, the Cavalier men upset No. 11 Syracuse for the team title, and also defeated No. 24 Villanova and No. 26 Duke. On the women’s side, the Cavaliers finished second to No. 2 Villanova. Individually, senior All-American Emil Heineking shattered the 8k-course record, finishing in 23:16.19, while Villanova’s Sheila Reid clocked in at 20:13.43 to set the women’s 6k-course record.

This year, two top-20 teams will battle for the title on both the men’s and women’s sides. The 20th-ranked Cavalier women will compete against No. 4 Texas Tech, while the 17th-ranked men will face No. 9 Duke. Other teams competing will include East Carolina, Longwood, UNC-Charlotte, VCU and Wake Forest.

The first 200 fans to arrive at Panorama Farms will receive a free cross-country t-shirt.
