Wilmington, NC – The eighth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team is tied for ninth place after the opening 18 holes of play at The Landfall Tradition taking place in Wilmington, N.C. The Cavaliers posted a score of 17-over 305. Duke and Texas lead the 18-team field at 3-over 291.

Virginia was led by sophomore Brittany Altomare who shot 1-under 71 and is tied for fourth place, just one shot behind the tournament leaders.

Joy Kim posted UVa’s second best round at 4-over 76 to finish in 36th place. Portland Rosen carded a 78 and is in 52nd place. Lauren Greenlief and Calle Nielson are tied for 67th at 80.

The second round of the event takes place Saturday and the final round is scheduled for Sunday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
