NORFOLK, Va. – Play continued Friday at the ITA Atlantic Regional at Old Dominion University with the Virginia women’s tennis team having a strong performance. The Cavaliers went undefeated in singles, with eight players reaching the round of 32, in addition to three doubles teams reaching the round of 16.

Second-seeded Erin Vierra won her opener 6-0, 6-1 over Jordan Hansbrough of Maryland. No. 3 seed Lindsey Hardenbergh topped Ivana Tomiac of Radford 6-0, 6-3. Emily Fraser, the No. 4 seed, rallied for a 2-6, 7-6(2), 6-0 win over Catherine Kellner of Marshall. Seventh-seeded Hana Tomljanovic defeated Shannon Betts of Virginia Tech 6-2, 6-2. No. 15 seed Maria Fuccillo advanced past Joanna Matsuszczyk of Richmond 6-2, 4-3 ret. Marjorie Baker won her opener 6-3, 6-0 over Kinsey Pate of James Madison. Caryssa Peretz topped No. 14 seed Dominika Zaprazna of Marshall 6-0, 6-1. Rashmi Teltumbde, who reached the main draw through qualifying, won her main draw first round match against Devi Jadeja of Saint Joseph’s 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, the top-seeded duo of Fraser and Tomljanovic blanked Josefin Stange-Jonsson and Carmen Jackman of UMBC 8-0. The No. 2 seed, Hardenbergh and Vierra, also cruised into the round of 16 with an 8-1 win over Elizabeth Adams and Gabi Catanzariti of Pittsburgh. Ninth-seeded Fuccillo and Teltumbde won 8-1 over Joanna Dobrowolska and Melissa Esnal of Old Dominion.

Play continues on Saturday with the round of 32 and round of 16 of singles, followed by the round of 16 of doubles.
