Wilmington, NC – Sophomore Brittany Altomare finished first for the second time this fall to help the eighth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team place fifth at The Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.

Altomare tied UCLA’s Tiffany Lua for medalist honors at 2-under 214. Altomare carded a 3-over 75 during Sunday’s final round while Lua shot even par 72. It marked the second time this fall Altomare has finished atop the leaderboard. She won the Golfweek Collegiate Challenge in late September. She entered the tournament ranked No. 10 among collegiate individual players by Golfweek.

Altomare joins teammate Calle Nielson (three) and former Cavalier Leah Wigger (two) as the only UVa players to have won multiple tournaments during their careers.

The Cavaliers shot 10-over 298 during the final round for a 54-hole total of 892. UCLA won the event at 880 followed by North Carolina (885), Texas (890) and Duke (891).

Virginia senior Joy Kim was 11th overall at 6-over 222, including a 74 during the final round. Freshman Portland Rosen placed 15th at 223. She led UVa with a 1-over 73 Sunday. Lauren Greenlief and Nielson tied for 71st at 239.

Virginia resumes its schedule Feb. 27 when the Cavaliers travel to the Tulane Invitational.
