CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team swept both regional singles and doubles titles as play concluded Sunday at the 2010 ITA Atlantic Regional at the Snyder Tennis Center. Both finals were All-Cavalier matchups with Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga,) winning the singles title and the team of Jenkins and Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) winning the doubles title.

In singles, Jenkins won his second consecutive regional singles title, winning this year’s final in a walkover.

In doubles, top-seeded Domijan and Jenkins won the title over third-seeded Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) and Steven Eelkman Rooda (Amersfoort, The Netherlands), 6-1, 7-5.

As champions of the regional, Jenkins in singles and Jenkins/Domijan in doubles advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships next month in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Three Cavalier singles players (Domijan, Singh and Drew Courtney) and one doubles team (Courtney/Shabaz) previously qualified for National Indoors with their performance at the ITA All-American Championships and did not compete in the regional. Michael Shabaz’s (Fairfax, Va.) No. 6 national singles ranking is expected to allow him to receive an at-large selection to the tournament.
