FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. — Play continued Friday at the 2010 ITA National Indoor Championships, held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Three members of the Virginia men’s tennis team were in action as play in the singles consolation draw began.

Drew Courtney, Sanam Singh and Alex Domijan all began play in the singles backdraw on Friday after losing close first round matches on Thursday.

Courtney advanced to the consolation quarterfinal with a 6-2, 7-6(6) win over Tucker Vorster of Mississippi on Friday. He will meet either John-Patrick Smith of Tennessee on Saturda.

Singh posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Georgia Tech’s Guillermo Gomez in his first consolation match on Friday. He will play Sven Vloedgraven of Binghamton on Saturday.

Domijan fell in his first round consolation match to Dennis Nevolo of Illinois, 7-6, 6-0.

Play continues Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
