Greenlief Honored as VSGA Golfer of the Year

Charlottesville, VA – Virginia sophomore Lauren Greenleif (Oakton, Va.) has been honored by the Virginia State Golf Association as its Women’s Division Golfer of the Year.

This year Greenlief repeated as the Virginias Stroke Play Champion and was the runner-up at the VSGA Women’s Amateur. She qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships, reached the round of 16 at the North and South Amateur and was a member of the UVa team that placed 13th at the NCAA Championships. She appeared in nine of 12 matches for Virginia last season and was fourth on the team in stroke average. She finished 12th at the ACC Championships.

Greenlief also excelled in the classroom, earning All-ACC Academic Team honors and was named to the National Golf Coaches Association Scholar Team. She is an Echols scholar at Virginia.

It marks the second consecutive year a UVa golfer has won the award. Former Cavalier Whitney Neuhauser was the 2009 VSGA Women’s Golfer of the Year.
