CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia swimmers Matt McLean and Lauren Perdue were both named ACC Performer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Virginia swept the conference awards this week after both the men’s and women’s teams recorded wins over Virginia Tech and Princeton.

McLean, a senior who hails from Sterling, Va., won the 200 free (1:37.42), 500 free (4:24.12) and 1650 free (15:12.42) in Virginia’s two-day meet over the weekend. All three marks were NCAA ‘B’ cuts and his 500 and 1650 free times currently lead the conference.

Perdue, a sophomore from Greenville, N.C., earned her second conference honor this season. She also collected three individual wins in the 50 free (22.91), 100 free (49.67) and 200 free (1:48.13) over the weekend, all of which were NCAA ‘B’ times. Perdue also led off three victorious relays, including the 200 free, 400 free and 800 free relays, all of which also posted ‘B’ cuts. Perdue’s 100 free time of 49.67 as well as Virginia’s 200 free (1:32.18) and 800 free relays (7:22.33) currently pace the ACC.

Perdue was also named the conference co-performer of the week Oct. 26 following Virginia’s season-opening meet at Florida.

Virginia returns to the pool this week when the Cavaliers welcome Big Ten foes Indiana and Penn State for a two-day meet, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. Day two will start at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
