CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s lacrosse head coach Julie Myers announced Tuesday the signing of six student-athletes to national letters of intent to play for the Cavaliers beginning with the 2011-12 academic year.

Joining the program will be Daniela Eppler (Towson, Md./Roland Park Country), Kelsey Gahan (Cockeysville, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Jessica Loizeaux (Mullica Hill, N.Y./Clearview Regional), Morgan Stephens (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), Courtney Swan (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) and Sloan Warren (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Baldwin).

“This is an extremely exciting group,” Myers said. “There is a lot of talent in this class and all six will add a lot to the team both on and off the field. They are fast, athletic, hard working and love UVa. Each of them will bring in the mentality that we need to keep competing for championships.”

Daniela Eppler will come to Virginia from Towson, Md. A defensive midfielder, Eppler is in her third varsity season at Roland Park Country High School, where she was a member of the National Tournament Team II. Eppler is the daughter of former Cavalier men’s lacrosse player, John.

Kelsey Gahan is a defensive midfielder from Cockeysville, Md. A Towson Times All-Star, Gahan was named an IAAM A Conference All-Star after leading Notre Dame Prep to back-to-back conference finals. She was also named to the 2009 Under Armour Baltimore All-Star Team after her underclass squad won the championship game.

Jessica Loizeaux is a member of Inside Lacrosse‘s 2010 Rising Senior Watch List and will be joining the Cavaliers from Mullica Hill, N.Y. A midfielder for Clearview Regional, Loizeaux was named a first-team All-American in 2009. She has also garnered first-team All-South Jersey honors, in addition to two all-conference accolades.

Morgan Stephens is a midfielder from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. A native of Olney, Md., Stephens is a two-time all-WCAC honoree, being named to the first-team as a junior. She was also an All-Met honorable mention and was named to the Galaxy All-Tournament Team.

Courtney Swan, a midfielder from Vero Beach, Fla., was tabbed a member of Inside Lacrosse‘s 2010 Rising Senior Watch List. A two-time All-American, Swan was named an Academic All-American in 2010 and has earned three-straight first-team all-district, all-area and all-league honors. In addition, Swan led Vero Beach High School to its fifth-straight state crown as a junior.

Sloan Warren is a two-time All-American from Bryn Mawr, Pa. An Academic All-American in 2010, Warren enters her sixth year on the varsity lacrosse team at Balwin High School. The midfielder is a three-time first-team All-Main Line honoree, was the Main Line Life Player of the Year in 2008 and was named to the Inside Lacrosse Rising Senior Watch List this year.
