CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team will close out its regular season on Friday, heading to Virginia Tech for a 7 p.m. contest. Live statistics and video will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavaliers enter the match with an overall record of 14-15 this year and 8-11 mark in the ACC, while the Hokies are 18-11 and 9-10 in the league. Earlier this season, Virginia Tech escaped Charlottesville with a close 15-13 fifth-set victory.

Junior Simone Asque and sophomore Jess O’Shoney lead Virginia this year, with both being ranked in the ACC in two statistical categories. Asque is second with 3.88 kills per set and 0.32 aces per set, while O’Shoney ranks sixth with a .340 attack percentage and is eighth in blocks per set, averaging 1.08. Senior AJ Cushman leads the defense and is ranked third in the league with 4.92 digs per set, while McKenzie Adams was tabbed the 2010 ACC Freshman of the Year on Wednesday.

Virginia Tech is led by All-ACC honorees Cara Baarendse and Felicia Willoughby. Baarendse leads the ACC in attack percentage, hitting .390, while Willoughby is ranked third in the category, attacking at a .365 clip. Baarendse is also ranked sixth in the league with 3.27 kills per set, while Willoughby is ninth in the ACC with 1.03 blocks per game. Erin Leaser is second in the ACC in assists per set (11.23), while Justine Record leads all conference players with 0.38 aces per game.

In the all-time series with the Hokies, the Cavaliers are 30-25. In Blacksburg, Va., Virginia trails, 15-10. The last 10 meetings have been split evenly between the two squads, with Virginia Tech winning the most recent contest.
