Guilbeau to Coach United States Team at Master'U BNP Paribas

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The United States Tennis Association announced that Virginia women’s head coach Mark Guilbeau and Boise State men’s head coach Greg Patton will coach the United States team at the Master’U BNP Paribas, an international collegiate competition held December 9-12 in Rouen, France. The event features eight teams composed of college and university players from around the world.

The team consists of three women’s players (Kristy Frilling of Notre Dame, Maria Sanchez of USC and Allie Will of Florida) and three men’s players (Sekou Bangoura of Florida, Reid Carleton of Duke and Austin Krajicek of Texas A&M).

The U.S., which defeated France to win the 2009 title, will be competing for the third consecutive year against a talented field that includes teams from Belgium, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Switzerland. The teams will compete in a best-of-seven format consisting of two men’s and two women’s singles matches, one men’s and one women’s doubles match, and one mixed doubles match.

“This is a great event and an extremely positive opportunity for all of us – players and coaches,” said Guilbeau. “Alongside Coach Patton, I am honored to be able to travel and work with this group of players. We look forward to doing all we can to provide the team with an exciting and memorable trip, while helping them prepare, train and compete at their highest level. I know the team is eager to defend their title from last year. It should be a great challenge and a very valuable experience competing against other high level teams from around the world.
