CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Eight University of Virginia field hockey players were honored on the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) all-state team, which was recently announced. Junior Paige Selenski repeated as the player of the year while Elly Buckley was named the state’s rookie of the year.

Selenski, who was also named player of the year as a sophomore in 2009, was joined on the first team by Buckley, senior Kim Kastuk, sophomore Tara Puffenberger and junior Michelle Vittese.

Senior Haley Carpenter, junior Rachel Jennings and freshman Chloe Pendlebury were selected to the all-state second team.

The Cavaliers put eight members on the all-state team for the second consecutive year, tying the most in school history.

Virginia finished the 2010 campaign with a record of 18-4 and made its second straight trip to the NCAA semifinals.
