CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia track and field team will head to Blacksburg, Va., to open 2011 at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Events are scheduled for Friday, beginning at 5 p.m., and Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. Live results will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

This weekend will mark Virginia’s second competition of the indoor season. In the season opener at Liberty, the Cavaliers only fielded athletes in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles and field events, and won seven events. Seniors Adams Abdulrazaaq and Kristina Chapman, in addition to freshman Leo McLaughlin, all won titles on the track – with Abdulrazaaq and Chapman winning the 60m hurdles and McLaughlin claiming the 60m dash title.

In field events, juniors Vincenzo Chiariello and Erin Wykoff swept the weight throw competition, while sophomore Emily Vannoy won the shot put and freshman Emily Kianka claimed the high jump title.

Following this weekend, the Cavaliers will return to Virginia Tech for the Hokie Invitational on Jan. 19-20.
