CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis team returns home for its first matches on the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in three weeks when it hosts a doubleheader on Saturday. The No. 25 Cavaliers play No. 55 Marshall at 11 a.m., followed by No 66 Winthrop at 4 p.m.

Virginia enters the weekend with a 4-0 record, tied for the best start to a season in school history. The Cavaliers have begun a season 4-0 four times before, the last time in 2006, but have never won the first five games of a season. Last week Virginia posted a 5-2 win at No. 28 Illinois.

Marshall enters the season with a 7-1 record, while Winthrop is 5-5 this year.

The matches begin a two-week homestand for the Cavaliers. Next week they will host the 2011 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The event features 16 of the best teams in the nation and will run from Feb. 18-21. The draw will be announced next week.

Admission to all home Virginia tennis matches is free.
