Charlottesville, VA – The 16th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team opens the spring portion of its schedule this week at the 35th annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Kahuku, Hawaii at Turtle Bay Resort.

The 16-team field includes: Arizona, Brigham Young, Brigham Young-Hawai’i,
California, Denver, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Hawai’i-Hilo, Hawai’i Pacific, Nevada, New Mexico, Southern Methodist, Texas A&M, Utah and UTEP.

Texas A&M, ranked ninth, is the highest ranked team in the field. California is ranked No. 19.

Teams will play at the Palmer Course (par 72, 7,218 yards) Wednesday and Thursday, with the final round at the Fazio Course (par 72, 6,535 yards) Friday. Golfers go off the first tee at 9 a.m. for the first round, and the first and 10th tees at 8 a.m. the final two days.

Virginia’s lineup will feature Will Collins, Ben Kohles, Ben Rusch, Amory Davis and Cole Willcox. Davis leads the team with a 71.67 stroke average while Kohles is second at 72.07.

The Cavaliers won two tournaments in the fall, placing first at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate and the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges. Kohles took medalist honors for the fourth time in his career at the Koch Intercollegiate.
