CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia will host the 2011 ITA Women’s National Team Indoor Championships this Friday-Monday at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The event, which features 16 of the top teams in the nation, is being held in Charlottesville for the first time in history.

This year’s field consists of 16 of the top 23 ranked teams in the nation, including 12 of the top 13 squads.

Virginia, which at 6-0 is off to the best start in school history, is making its third appearance at the prestigious event. The Cavaliers haven’t been in the National Team Indoor field in 17 years, as their previous two appearances came in 1993 and 1994.

The Cavaliers open the tournament against third-ranked Baylor in the first round on Friday at 12:30 p.m. During the first three days of the tournament, there will be two matches played at a time, starting at 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday’s final will start at 11 a.m.

Admission to the tournament is free.
