Kahuku, HI – The 16th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team opened its spring season Wednesday by tying for seventh place after the opening round of the John Burns Intercollegiate in Kahuku, Hawaii. The Cavaliers shot 6-over 294 to be tied with BYU. California and Texas A&M lead the 17-team field at 5-under 283.

Virginia was led by Ben Kohles and Amory Davis who both shot 1-under 71. They are tied for eighth place, three shots behind the tournament’s co-leaders. Will Collins is in 35th place at 3-over 75 while Ben Rusch and Cole Willcox are tied for 58th at 5-over 77.

The second round of the tournament is slated for Thursday starting at 7:30 a.m. local time and the final round will take place Friday. Live scoring of the event is online at Golfstat.com.
