Charlottesville, VA – The eighth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team opens the spring portion of its season at the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Feb. 27-28 and March 1 at English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans. The 54-hole event features 18 holes of play each day on the par-72, 6,105-yard course. Play starts at 7:50 a.m. during the first two rounds and at 8:15 a.m. for the final round. Virginia’s lineup for the tournament includes Brittany Altomare, Calle Nielson, Portland Rosen, Joy Kim and Nicole Agnello.

Altomare is ranked No. 4 in the current Golfstat standings. She led the team last fall with a 71.08 stroke average and recorded first-place finishes at the Golfweek Conference Challenge and The Landfall Tradition.

The 16-team field for the Suger Bowl Intercollegiate includes 12 teams ranked in the current Golfstat top-25 poll. Participants include: No. 1 Alabama, No. 10 Arizona State, No. 21 Auburn, Denver, No. 5 Duke, Florida, Kentucky, No. 4 LSU, Mississippi, No. 14 North Carolina, No. 6 Purdue, No. 2 USC, No. 17 Tennessee, Texas A&M, No. 15 Tulane and No. 13 Vanderbilt.
