Charlottesville, VA – Virginia’s Ben Kohles and Georgia Tech’s James White have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Golfers of the Month for February.

Kohles, a junior from Cary, N.C., won a three-way playoff for medalist honors at the John Burns Intercollegiate, played Feb. 16-18 in Wahiawa, Hawaii, to open Virginia’s spring season. He had rounds of 71, 68 and 67 to finish at 10-under 206. His final round score helped Virginia set a single-round scoring record of 19-under 269. The 206 matched the best tournament score in his career. Earlier this season he won the Gary Koch Intercollegiate.

Kohles currently leads the 18th-ranked Cavaliers with a 71.50 stroke average. He has been UVa’s top finisher in four of five tournaments this season. He is ranked the No. 37 collegiate player in the latest Golfweek standings.

White, also a junior, captured the medalist title at the Puerto Rico Classic, played February 20-22 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and tied for 10th individually at the Amer Ari Invitational, played Feb. 2-4 in Waikoloa, Hawaii. White helped Georgia Tech to finish fourth as a team at the Amer Ari and second at the Puerto Rico Classic.

The ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month for February included tournaments played January through March 1, 2011.
