Charlottesville, VA – The seventh-ranked Virginia women’s golf team opens play at the LSU Golf Classic Friday, March 11. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be contested at LSU’s par-72, 6,186-yard University Course. Virginia won the tournament in 2009, the last time it was held at the University Club. This is the first collegiate tournament held at the site since a complete renovation took place last year.

The field for this year’s tournament includes: LSU, Tulane, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Duke, TCU, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Tennessee, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, UNC-Wilmington, Louisville, Furman, NC State, Charleston, UL-Monroe and Mississippi State.

Virginia’s lineup includes Joy Kim, Brittany Altomare, Portland Rosen, Calle Nielson and Nicole Agnello. Lauren Greenlief will compete as a non-scoring individual.

Kim led Virginia in its last outing at the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, finishing 18th overall at 219 to help the Cavaliers to a fifth-place finish. Altomare leads the team in stroke average at 71.53.

First and Second rounds on Friday and Saturday will start at 7:51 a.m. CST each day. The shotgun start on Sunday is set for 8:30 a.m. CDT. Live scoring at Golfstatresults.com.
