Statesboro, GA – The 17th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team is in fourth place after the first 18 holes of play at the Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. The Cavaliers shot even par 288 and trail tournament-leading Auburn by nine shots. Florida is second at 282 and LSU is third at 287.

Virginia was led in the first round by junior Ben Kohles. He is in ninth place at 2-under 70. Bruce Woodall shot 72 and stands 15th. A trio of Cavaliers posted scores of 1-over 73 to tie for 25th. That group includes Amory Davis, Ben Rusch and Will Collins.

Florida’s Ban Vongvanij leads the field after shooting 6-under 66.

The second round of the tournament takes place Saturday and the final round is scheduled for Sunday.
