Virginia's Second Varsity Eight Named ACC Crew of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE – After posting wins against No. 3 California and No. 4 Stanford to open the season, Virginia’s Second Varsity Eight was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week.
The Cavalier crew of coxswain Molly Frear, MacKenzie Leahy, Carli Goldberg, Carolyn Glandorf, Jenny Shultis, Morgan Joseph, Brandy Herald, Cara Linnenkohl and Hunter Terry defeated fourth-ranked Stanford on Saturday (March 26) with a time of 6:42.1. Stanford’s time was 6:46.9 in that race.
On Sunday, March 27, at the same Redwood Shores, Calif., course, UVa bested No. 3 California, 6:40.1 to 6:48.5.
Virginia, which captured the 2010 NCAA Championship and debuted at No. 1 in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) preseason poll, is back in action on Sunday (April 3) in Columbus, Ohio. The Cavaliers will race Ohio State and Michigan.
