River Landing Intercollegiate Up Next for Cavalier Golfers

Charlottesville, VA — The 19th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team will compete this weekend at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C. The 15-team field will play 36 holes Friday and the final round Saturday at the par-72, 6,900-yard River Landing Country Club.
Virginia’s lineup will include Amory Davis, Will Collins, Cole Willcox, Bruce Woodall and Mac McLaughlin. Henry Smart will compete as a non-scoring individual. Ben Kohles, who leads UVa with a 71.60 stroke average, is not participating in this weekend’s event to rest a sore back. He will be back in UVa’s lineup for the ACC Championships scheduled for April 22-24.
The field for the River Landing Intercollegiate includes NC State, Memphis, Liberty, Maryland, Jacksonville, Winthrop, Old Dominion, USC-Upstate, Seton Hall, Lamar, St. John’s, Troy, UNCW and East Carolina.
UNC Wilmington won last year’s tournament with a score of 847, two shots ahead of North Carolina. East Carolina’s David Watkins took medalist honors at 9-under 207. Virginia did not play in the event but a trio of individuals participated in stroke play.
Gregor Orlando and Mac McLaughlin tied for 37th overall at 6-over 222. Orlando posted rounds of 73, 76 and 73. McLaughlin shot 82, 68 and 72. Henry Smart was 46th at 224. He had rounds of 75, 73 and 76.
