GREENSBORO, N.C. – Redshirt senior All-American Stephanie Garcia has been honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Co-Performer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Garcia and Florida State’s Kim Williams both posted the top marks in the nation for their respective events en route to sharing this week’s award.

Garcia, from South Riding, Va., paced a field of eight to win the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday. Garcia’s time of 9:56.96 currently stands as the fastest time in the NCAA and leads both the ACC and NCAA East Region by more than 20 seconds.

Her time broke former Cavalier All-American Dawn Cleary’s school record of 9:59.30 from 2003.

This marks the first career weekly award for Garcia during the outdoor season, while it is her second weekly honor this year. Garcia was named the ACC Co-Performer of the Week on Sept. 13 after winning the Lou Onesty Invitational individual title during the cross country season.
