CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia softball team (18-21) will play host to Delaware State Wednesday in a doubleheader that will begin at 4 p.m. Live statistics for both games will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavaliers are coming off a series loss at Florida State, as the Seminoles claimed two-of-three games, including a 6-1 win in game three on Sunday. Freshman Stephanie Harris leads the UVa offense with a .339 average and a team-best 24 RBI. Junior Giannina Cipolloni contributes a .291 average with a squad-best 24 stolen bases.

Delaware State is 22-10 on the season including a 10-8 mark on the road. Last weekend the Hornets swept conference foe Maryland Eastern Shore with 13-3, 12-1 and 10-0 victories in Princess Anne, Md.

Delaware State, hitting .345 as a team, is led by junior Jordan Reid’s .500 average, while Stephanie Martello (.365) boasts a team-best 29 RBI and Casey Beighley (.359) also contributes a squad-high 15 doubles and 22 RBI.

Delaware state pitcher Ashlyn Campbell is 8-2 on the year with a 2.39 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings of work. Teammate Stephanie Sarris (5-1) posts a 2.91 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 40 innings of work while Beighley (6-5) has a 3.45 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings.

Virginia is 2-0 all-time against Delaware State after winning both games a year ago, 7-0 and 9-0.
