CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eight Virginia wrestlers were named to the 2011 All-ACC Academic Wrestling Team, announced Tuesday by the league office. Virginia had by far the most honorees of any school in the conference, with twice as many recipients as any other program.

Jack Danilkowicz (R-Sr., Green Oaks, Ill.) was named to the team for the third time, while Stephen Doty (So., St. Louis, Mo.), Dave Ebbott (Sr., Blue Bell, Pa.), Nick Nelson (R-Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Matt Snyder (R-So., Lewistown, Pa.) all were honored for the second time.

Jon Fausey (R-Fr., Dalmatia, Pa.), Shawn Harris (R-Jr., Cleveland, Ohio) and Joe Spisak (Fr., Boiling Springs, Pa.) each earned the distinction for the first time.

In addition to their success in the classroom, five of the Cavalier honorees also were qualifiers to the NCAA Championships this season – Danilkowicz, Nelson, Snyder, Fausey and Spisak.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
