CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia junior women’s tennis player Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) has advanced through qualifying to reach the main draw of the Boyd Tinsley Women’s Clay Court Championships, a USTA Challenger Circuit event at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Hardenbergh will meet Canadian Marie-Eve Pelletier in the first round on Wednesday.

Hardenbergh, who received a wild card into qualifying, won three matches to reach the main draw. In the first round of qualifying she defeated world No. 825 Lauren Herring 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2. In the second round she topped world No. 461 Macall Harkins 6-2, 6-4. In the final round of qualifying she downed Wen Xin of China 6-2, 7-6(5).

The first round match between Hardenbergh and Pelletier, currently ranked No. 582 in the world, is the second match on the stadium court on Wednesday, with play beginnng at 10 a.m. Admission to the tournament is free.
