CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -The Virginia softball team (21-27, 4-12 ACC) will visit NC State (24-21, 5-11 ACC) for a three-game series this weekend in Raleigh, N.C. The Cavaliers and Wolfpack will meet for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday and conclude conference play at 12 p.m. Sunday. The Cavaliers sit in eighth place in the conference standings but are one game away from the Wolfpack, who stand in seventh, and Boston College, which is 5-10 in conference play.

Virginia is looking to bounce back after a two losses to Radford on the road Wednesday. UVa also fell twice to Georgia Tech at home last weekend in their most recent conference series.

Freshman Stephanie Harris (.319, 26 RBI) and junior Giannina Cipolloni (.316, eight doubles) lead Virginia at the plate this season. Cipolloni also leads the conference with 30 steals and senior Alison Pittman has scored a squad-best 31 runs with 17 steals.

NC State has earned wins in six of its last eight contests, including a series victory over Virginia Tech last weekend.

Senior Bridget Desbois leads the Wolfpack at the plate with a .324 average. Bethaney Wells (.317) posts a team-best nine home runs and 20 RBI while Alyssa Allbritten (.314) contributes seven doubles and 26 RBI.

Pitchers Kayla Cox (3.01 ERA, 13-12) and Morgan Peeler (3.63 ERA, 9-7) have seen the majority of action for NC State in the circle this season. Cox leads the way with 207 strikeouts on the year.

The Wolfpack lead the all-time series between the two teams, 12-11. The Cavaliers won the series a year ago, taking two-of-three at home.
